Clean Air for Everyone is excited for the Smoke-Free Air Act to take effect on July 1, 2008.  To help educate business owners the Iowa Consortium for Comprehensive Cancer Control is sponsoring workshops held across the state the week of June 23 - June 26, 2008.  Key points are listed below.

Signage Requirements:

All signs must display:

1) The international "no smoking" symbol or the words "No Smoking"

2) The Smoke-Free Air Act website, www.IowaSmokefreeAir.gov

3) The Smoke-Free Air Act helpline, 1-888-944-2247

*All signs must be at least 24 square inches and be printed in a legible font*

Recommended steps in preparing for the Smoke-Free Air Act:

1) Inform all present and future employees about the provisions of the Smoke-Free Air Act

2) Post required signage at every entrance

3) Post signs in all vehicles which are considered a place of employment

4) Remove all ashtrays

5) Prepare a plan of enforcement for your place of business
